The One Where They Became Juniors

May 25-28, 2018
Memorial Day Weekend

MAN!  I cannot get over how FAST time is flying these days!  Killing me!  So, now, they are both done with sophomore years of high school.  Emma was out a week or so before Lara, and Lara finished up this past Friday.  Plus, they both started new summer jobs.  This is the second summer Emma has worked somewhere; it's the first for Lara.  Emma is living in Ponca City with her grandpa Bruce and working with him at the NAPA store in Newkirk - among other wild and totally Emma things.  Lara is working every other week in Stillwater as a summer Nanny for a family with 3 young kids.  Totally up her alley - even if she did get a pretty pink sunburn on her first day!

So, last weekend.  Again, went too fast.  Didn't see any Emma.  Tried to cram in all the things.  Ended up happy, tired, and not ready for the week to start.

Lara went to a Class of 2018 high school graduation party for her friend Jake G.  Then we went as a family to SHS graduation at Gallagher Iba Arena.  Partly to see her friends graduate, but mostly to see Dr. Bob and hear him give the commencement speech!  It was SO VERY LONG!  But a fun event.  Then, Saturday she went with us to watch Jake play basketball!

Emma was working and running all over North Central Oklahoma taking care of her horses, her grandma Karen, her house while her Dad and Step-Mom are out of town, and living her new life in Kay County!  WHEW!

But, we did get to see her Tuesday night.  She had to come to Orlando to take care of her horses, so she drove on in to Stillwater for free food to see us.  She and Lara both look rough after long days at work, but I made them pose for a picture!  #GoodMom

This week will go by just as quickly.  There's no stopping it, right?

The One in Different States

May 18-20, 2018

Due to the complications from our move (more on that in a "family blog" that I have started 3 times and never finished), we were not all together for this weekend as we had originally planned.  Our cousin, Whitney was having a wedding!  She was marrying her best friend, Jason, in Montezuma, Kansas.  And all the Oklahoma cousins were set to go!  Until, they weren't  Emma ended up being able to go with Nana and Grandpa, but Lara was preparing for finals and had a banquet to attend, so she stayed home with the rest of the Weavers.

Emma:
After ending her Sophomore year of high school on Thursday, Emma left out Friday night with Nana and Grandpa for the 4 hour drive to Western Kansas.  She spent the evening at the rehearsal and dinner.  Saturday was wedding day!  Here are a few pictures she sent my from the wedding and reception.

After spending Saturday night there, they packed up and headed back to Oklahoma early Sunday morning.  They dropped Emma off at her house in Orlando - she had to get ready for her BIG SUMMER up north.  She is living in and working in Kay County this summer with the Grandpa Horinek.

Lara:
Lara had a somewhat busy weekend.  Friday night we went to the "Short Show" of the recital for Encore! Dance Studio - where she danced for YEARS before sports and stinky boys overtook her life.  Saturday was a day sped WORKING on our new hours - getting appliances hooked up, boxes unpacked, closets organized, and pictures hung.  She even took her brother with her while she ran some errands.Plus, FINALS are next week, so we have to get some studying in as well.  Sunday we went to church, then Sunday night was the Pioneer Baseball end of season banquet.  I gotta say - those coaches and families know how to treat their trainers and managers right!  It was a nice banquet - even if the video was a little long.

Friday - Encore! Short Show

Saturday - errands with Jake

Sunday - taking us to the bandquet

Next time I write, they will BOTH be done with Sophomore year.  I've been doing this 10 months now.  As expected, it is going very, VERY fast!

The One Where They TURNED 16

May 11 - 14, 2018

SIXTEEN?!?!?!?!?!?

I think I will mainly tell this one through pictures.  (I added MONDAY to the weekend, since that was their actual birthday.)  Started the weekend Friday night when they were out at the ranch in Orlando with Emma's friends where they watched a movie projected on to the side of their barn.  Ended the weekend Monday night in Stillwater at The Hideaway with a pizza party with Lara's friends.  And a fun surprise for Lara!  Just look through and remember I saw these with lots of tears in my eyes...

Friday night in Orlando:

Mother's Day SNUCK in there!  I didn't see Emma, but I hung our with these rascals:
Happy Mother's Day!

And Monday in Stillwater:

There was a little surprise waiting for Lara after her pizza party...

And, she got to drive it home!

Lara's 2006 VW Jetta.  She named it "JETT"

It should be noted... Both Twisters FAILED their driver's tests on Monday - Emma in Ponca City and Lara in Stillwater.  They both learned from their mistakes, and because they have the best Nana and Dad (Britt) in the world, they got up very early Tuesday morning, all went to Ponca City DMV for the tests again - AND PASSED!  Success always comes from failure, and this was a valuable lesson to learn!  Here they are with their new licenses!

Lara - Stillwater, OK Tag Agency
Welcome to SIXTEEN, girls!
Hold on to it, as long as you can...

The One With Endings

May 4-6, 2018

This one is going to be mostly about our Lara-Bug.  Mainly because I never saw Emma this weekend.  And I only spoke to her one the phone once - she was at the mall; wanted money for a swim suit.  LOL!  It's all good!  It is a busy time of year and we're all going 100 different directions.  It happens!

Sometimes, things come to an end unexpectedly.  I think this happened to Lara this pas week.  The SHS Varsity Baseball team played in their regional games last Thursday and Friday.  They were on a winning streak, and they believed they would play in the State Tournament the next week.  Unfortunate;y, Friday proved to be tougher than they had anticipated, and all of a sudden, 2018 Baseball was just, OVER. Lara took it pretty hard, but is so grateful for the memories and the relationships she came away with.

Since baseball is over, she has a week with her "boss" Aaron to prepare for Football, and those practices start on the 14th.  With no returning seniors on the trainer squad, Lara and Molly will be the leads on this!  Lara is very excited to be trusted with this responsibility, but it is hard to believe it's already time for FOOTBALL practice!

Other times, things end long after they should have!  Saturday and Sunday were spent MOVING!  That's right!  We moved in to our forever home this past weekend!  Ended an long era of rental houses in Stillwater - and we couldn't be more excited! Stay Tuned to the blog for more on that.  Took up a big chunk of our weekend, but we are so excited for this big change!

Next weekend - they turn SIXTEEN!
