March 2023

"Only those with tenacity can march forward in March." - Ernest Agyemang Yeboah

Go back and read that quote again.  Tenacity.  What a word!  "The quality or fact of 1) being able to grip something firmly; firm. 2)being very determined; determination. 3) continuing to exist; persistence.  This month has been full of ALL OF THAT, plus our continued drive to celebrate in 2023 - despite the struggles, set backs, disappointments, and pain.  There was a LOT to celebrate in March!

Started off the Month with Mom all in her feels...

Lara had a procedure at the hospital to light up her
gall bladder - didn't work; we celebrated with tea!

Finn was in his 5th grade musical about Rats

ENHS Won their Area games

Tate came out to see Braylin, Loagn, Jake, and AJ
(they all played AAU ball together last summer)

Next Stop: STATE

We enrolled Finn for 6th Grade at Sequoyah Middle School

Rolled out to some other Classes State Playoff Games
and ran into NBA OKC Thunder (former OSU Cowboy and
Enid Outlaw) Lindy Waters III! Finn was THRILLED!

There was a spirit walk at the school for both
the girls and boys teams - we made signs

we had to go to the airport. at 4:30am...

to drop off this little leprechaun...So she could go to IRELAND for 10 days and study abroad!

Mom spent the day with colleagues and PISTIL PETE!

And our little man Finn got to tour his middle school!
AND he lost 3 teeth THIS WEEK!

Finn and I had THE BEST time at the
"Son + 1" Game Night at his school

And I woke up VERY EARLY  on a Friday morning to take
Jake to the Hoop House to catch his bus with ALL
the other Team Griffin teams as they headed to
Memphis for a tournament

I seriously thought that was the last "exciting" thing of the month and would be the last picture of the blog.  But then, the weather got involved.  Mid-afternoon on Friday, the winds were atrocious - 50-70 mph gusts.  I was working from home, and the wind knocked out our internet, followed by our power, and within an hour a dozen wildfires surrounded us.  By 3:30, we had packed up valuables, a few changes of clothes, snacks, water, and the dogs, and were evacuating.

One of the fired was just 3 miles SW of us and the other was 2 miles north. About 4 hours later, we got to head back home.

In the meantime, Jake's bus to Memphis skirted a tornado in Arkansas and made it to Memphis, then the street their hotel was on got hit by a tornado and they lost power for the night.  All the other details can her found in this blog post I made specifically for this crazy day!

Posting the books I read each month...  I am in a neighborhood book club for Hidden Oaks of Guthrie, but I like to read all the books, and many at the same time, so I will indicate which one was for the book club and then the others I decided to tackle as well!

Only read three this month - but look above and see how BUSY they were!  And I am currently deep into 3 more, so April will be FULL!

"Behold The Walls" by Clara Luper

"The Last Year of the War" by Susan Meissner (Book Club Choice)

"Finding Grace" by K. L. Slater
