- "In March, the soft rains continues, and each storm waited courteously until its predecessor sunk beneath the ground." -- John Steinbeck
(Please note - this is being penned on Sunday, April 20. April was almost as insane as March - more on that next month...)
What's the saying...? "March - in like a lion out like a lamb?" More like, in like a lion, out like a more tired, more restless lion... WHEW! That Steinbeck quote at the open holds true, as well. It was one hit after another. But, we grew closer, we survived, and we learned things along the way. Going with the photo recap for this month as well. Here are some highlights (and not so high-lights as well)...
Started on a high with the last game of Basketball Regionals! Beat Union to move on to Area!

Jake celebrating B's birthday with some friends |
Next Up? AREA -- time to prepare...
Squeezed in a choir concert!
And unexpectedly, on Monday, March 3, we lost Grandma Mary. We were NOT ready! We had a full week in front of us, which now included deep, gut wrenching grief, and a funeral to plan...
But life just keep rolling.... Then it was time for Areas....
We went in knowing it might be the last one....
It was the last one....

That's it. That's the end of his high school career. Jake Weaver -- OUT!
And then, it was several days with family, food, and a funeral on . Thankful for the precious time together, but MAN! We are missing Grandma Mary SO MUCH!
And it is only Tuesday, March 11.... Moving on...
Finn and his Middle School got some Social Media Love!
Jake got his first tattoo and his Bestie won a State Championship!
And then, Friday March 14th - the Friday that started Spring Break, changed my world FOREVER. Wildfires. Destroyed my old stomping grounds of Stillwater, Oklahoma. My parent's old house the ones my babies and I lived in when life crumbled in 2004 and where I found my feet, the one where my girls grew up and Jake got his first stitches from falling down their stairs, the one where Finn and I spent countless uneasy days those first few moths home... GONE. Brined to the ground. And my best friend? Young, only moved in a few months earlier and with s current 2 year old - lost EVEY THING thing they ever knew. EVERY LAST THING. Devastating is not a strong enough word. I had taken Spring break off work to rest and recoup Instead, I was helping in any way I could. (It's over a month later and I can still smell the smoke and taste the ash. I will never forget!)

On Sunday, we went out to the house to see what we could find and salvage, as they were still in Arkansas with family, trying to decide next steps. We were so lucky to find one of the items they wanted the most!
Spring Break still happened, for some of my kids anyway! Jake and Lara compared tattoos before they both flew the coop for a few days! jake was off to Seaside, FL with friends, and Lara to Philly for work after a fun family scavenger hunt around downtown OKC.
Proof of life pics from the kids' trips, dentist and orthodontist for Finn, rearranged the furniture in both boys rooms, got an oil change in Lara's car, and went back to Stillwater.... That was our Spring Break.
Jake's cap and gown arrived he committed to Tabor for his further education and basketball career, Emma is living the dream with Parker in Kansas, and prom prep started - complete with shopping for a suit for Jake to take to college. FOUR stores later, we dropped big buck and ordered a FULLY CUSTOM suit for our giant!
WE FINALLY MADE IT to the end of the month. Exhausted. On to the next...
There was no reading. No book clubs. Just stress.
"Remarkably Bright Creatures" by Shelby Van Pelt (which was AMAZING!)
