Read that quote again. MAN! It really spoke to me with month. This has been a month of intense GROWTH for all of us. BIG things happened. Things happened to us. Thing happened because of us. Life CHANGED, every single day. Some days by inches, and others by (literal) miles. We're a week into September now,a dn we are still experiencing the growing pains. But, oh! The rewards! Tears shed watered grounds of August, letting September rise with tender new beginnings. So I turn toward September’s flowers—proof that even endings can give way to unexpected beauty.
Here are the highlights!
Started the month with a day off. Not as relaxing as one would think! There was a PARTY to put together! We started with a going away party for Jake that weekend. It was such a great send off!
Jake and Avery spent the day celebrating National Girlfriends Day with a round of golf.
Next Up : PARTY!
THEN, Jake decided to get a haircut...
Yeah.... Me too! (AND I got a fun name tag from cool campus partners)
The next few days were filled with getting ready for back to school. Dentist appts, class prep (for me), schedule release, schedule walk, and orthodontist (Finn) and reporting to school (Britt)! I also spent a lot of time WORKING, and reflecting on GRACE.
Then, it was our turn. Once we knew Avery was safely on the road, it was time to turbo pack, last minute shop, and load the cars! She left on Wednesday morning, and Jake was headed to Kansas on Friday! BUT FIRST! The Edmond crew had to have their FDOS....
SPOILER ALERT -- THEY BOTH MADE IT!
(Finn does have other shirts - he just REALLY loves this one and wore it a lot beginning of August!)
Jake and I spent Thursday together. Started with brunch at Waffle Champion, then ran some last minute errands, and finally went home to PACK! We had made piles, and lists, but no real packing. Then, Dad and I got up early Friday morning and loaded the 2 cars that were Kansas bound!
A quick stop at Braum's on the way to the Interstate, and we were OFF! Jake and Finn in the white Jeep, Mom and Dad in the blue VW. # hours later, we were there! Time to check in, get the dorm assignment, and UNPACK!

I cried a lot that Friday... |
Please enjoy the TikTok I made of the day....
And a few of my favorite pics
So glad to have my BEST FRIEND with me for this day; and for the insanely sweet gift from Jake that I was given as we drove out of campus. I cried - ugly, sobbing, uncontrollable, snooty cried, for like an hour. And the bear went everywhere with me for a solid week...
A baby Shower, Nana and Grandpa's 57th wedding anniversary, and back to work and school embodied the next week! And I finally got to have my FDOS as I started teaching UNIV 1111 for my second year!
Got to play grandma to some of friend's littles at the shower!
Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!
Spotted Jake during orientation on some of the college's socials!
Jake's first day!
Britt and Finn getting into the routine!
Betseys' first day!
And for Labor Day weekend, Jake flew to SLC to see Avery....
Had some wisdom slung my way.....
Jelly Roll? or Max Lucado? I'll never choose!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND... WE'RE BACK BABY! BOOKS GOT READ! A lot of them! I read EIGHT (8) books this month. After Jake left, I had a lot of trying to regroup to do, and, reading is always therapy for me. SA couple of these I was close to finishing before August rolled around, but I still read a record number of pages in August! Here's how it went: "Sold on a Monday" by Krista McMorris "The Vacation" by Kathryn Croft "Verity" by Colleen Hoover "Greenlights" by Matthew McConaughey "The Missing Half" by AShley Flowers "Story of my Life" by Lucy Score "The Beach House on Amelia Island" by Hope Holloway "The Summer I Turned Pretty" by Jenny Han |
