August 2026

"The month of August had turned into a griddle where the days just lay there and sizzled." - Sue Monk Kidd (The Secret Life of Bees) AND "Arriving in August, I find I am not who I was in June." - Anne Morrow Lindbergh

And then came the wind. While the days sizzled, a whirlwind of change was quietly gathering speed behind the scenes. By mid-month, everything we thought we knew about our routine was flipped upside down, forcing us to grab hold and ride the wave of a brand-new chapter. June seems like a distant memory of a completely different life.  Funny how things change just like that.  I've experienced it before; I am sure to do so again.  Let's see what all unfolded in August...

WEEK 1 - The wind-up and the pitch! (August 1 - 8)

Jake was still home; school had not started for Britt, Jake, or Finn.  And I was off on a new adventure...

First Up? Back to School BOOK CLUB!

FIRST UP!  I started a new job!  And all the shenanigans, including
being VP for about a day - poor HR, so confused...

Saw Woody and Buzz dangling precariously, relived an OSU moment at UCO, walked the schedule with Finn at Edmond North High School, and had my first Bronze & Blue Friday!

Emma had a busy weekend!  She went wedding dress shopping with a friend, AND ENDED UP WITH HER OWN!  Color me surprised, but definitely on brand for her!

Then Finn went up to Kansas to spend the weekend with her and Parker.  They spoiled him rotten and introduced him to new things!  It was a win for everyone!

AND JACK!

WEEK 2 - The swing and a HIT! (August 9 - 15)
Things are starting to move more quickly!  School is starting, move-ins are happening, and it is still 100 degrees or more every day!

Finn came home and we got to see Emma's dress!!!

JACK TURNED ONE!

Convocation, Orientation, and a BUNCH of swag!

Moving Day Prep...

THE BIG DAY!  Finn starts high school and Jake moves to Joplin!
It was a divide and conquer kind of day...

ENHS:

MSSU - Joplin, MO

Ended this crazy week with New Student Stampede Week events, a campus tour for Britt, and CHURCH!

And JACK!

WEEK 3 - Rounding Second! (August 16 - 22)

School started for Jake, we got some GREAT news we had been patiently waiting on, we started a marriage enrichment class at church, Jack got a haircut, and there was another Bronze & Blue Friday!

And JACK!

WEEK 4 - Headed for Home... (August 23 - 29)
This was a pretty slow week, but we needed it!

Ran into a classmate of Britt's and Fuzzy's and decided to share a table!

New job things, blue and gold, civic duties, and Finn living his best HS life!

I got a fun surprise as a welcome to my new job gift from
my besties at Technolutions!

And on this Friday, we got some jaw-dropping news that soured our day and threatened our peace.  BUT GOD!  He is on the Throne, and we are His.  No weapon formed against us shall prevail. This song reminded me and fortified me for what is to come!

And JACK!

End of the Month - HOME RUN! (August 31 & 31)

Mostly just work shenanigans, and stithing!  I have a fun one I have been working on for a while!

Looking forward to September - HOPEFULLY some cooler days, college football, all the FALL things, and more time to learn, grow, and be a family.  We are blessed.
