November 2023

  • "In November, the earth is growing quiet. It is making its bed, a winter bed for flowers and small creatures." — Cynthia Rylant

  • November flew by!  I guess as we worked to recover from October, the month just whizzed by.  Plus we were busy gearing u (in every sense of the work) for basketball season!  Looking forward to all the festivities of the holiday season, and still going to school and work everyday.  We changed the clocks - now there are days I drove to AND from work in the dark! And we settled in to new routines.  We planned and re-planned holidays.  We enjoyed a few warm days and a few more COLD ones.  It was a good month.  Here are some highlights...

November 1 was a busy day!  It was officially MOVE DAY for my office crew, and we had plans to attend an OSU men's Basketball game that night, as we were seeing one of Jake's old teammate who now played for Oklahoma Baptist University.

MOVING DAY!  It was a lot.  Like a lot a lot.  I walked over 6 miles that day.  About 9 trips back and forth from the basement of the Classroom building to the 2nd floor of the PIO building ¼ mile across campus.  PIO does not have a functional elevator (120 year old building) – so when we got to PIO with our wagons and carts full of our stuff, we had to then carry it, piece by piece, up the stairs.  Furniture, chairs, rugs, computer components and all the office supplies and décor.  We bought all new furniture (desks, credenzas, bookcases), which we also have been assembling for the last 2 weeks. All while trying to do our jobs in between the chaos.

My girl saved the day with HTeaO and was the first to see my new office!

Next up? Basketball Season!

First Basketball Adventure of the Season! Fun for the Huskies to see TJ Strong on the Court at Gallagher Iba Arema.

First Day at my new desk in my new office - lots of work still to happen in here!

First Husky Scrimmage of the year

Cowboys win Bedlam and rush the field - took down the goal posts!

Emma and Austin spent the weekend in Ardmore, we we met up at the On Cue at I-35 and Waterloo as they headed back to Kansas to hug necks and chat a little bit!  Love you, Emma!

First walk to the bus stop when it wasn't pitch black!

SLIGHT progress in the new office...  very slight....

Scrimmage - Carl Albert

Got a little love from Okie Ball!

JV Huskies played in the Santa Fe Scrimmage Tournament:

Great games, blocks, dunks, Nana and Grandpa game, Lara looks up to her "little" bro!

Next Up - Southmoore scrimmage at home

Britt and I were responsible for the hospitality at the next event!  The Edmond Husky East / West Scrimmage is the biggest fundraiser event each year.  40 teams, all day.  Fun experience, but so long!  And a great fundraiser!

Jake scoring on  one of the best BIG MEN in the state, and cheering on his team from the bench

Finn brought all his equipment and set up his own e-sports arena in the café to keep him busy all day!

How the evening ended!  We were so tired!

Another Scrimmage...

Love this one of Jake and his Coach

Got out the Christmas Tress and started on them,,,,

And then, THANKSGIVING (in no particular order)!

We had our big meal with Nana and Grandpa in Perkins, then when to Stillwater to see Aunt Shelley and the cousins!
The original cousins!  (Jane, me and Matt - we miss you Brian!)

Next Gen Cousins: Jake, Faith, Rocco, Finn and Lara; Jake with his NYC fam who can't fathom how tall he is!

Finn (12), Faith (11), and Rocco (13) are all close in age so they get up to lots of shenanigans during visits! Finn spent the while day with them earlier in the week while I was at work.

You take the pic with my phone it gets posted everywhere! (Lara)

My guy!

FINALLY GAME DAY!

Gotta love the warm up dunks!

And those Oklahoma Sunsets on the commute home form work - Something in the Orange...

Another OKState Basketball game - vs. Creighton!

And we have come to the end of another month.  So.  Much.  BASKETBALL!  And now that the season has started it will be even more!  But we are loving this season and cheering Jake on to see what is next for him.

Reading was again much of an after thought this month - much like last.  I ended the month with only 3 books read, but I am almost done with 2 more so December will looks better! LOL!  I have already read 51 books in 2023 - we'll soon see how the year ends!

"The Loyal Wife" by Natalie Barelli
