Another LinkedIn post iwanted to save for posterity...
Several days ago, I wrote about grit.
About early mornings.
Extra reps.
Serving the team before seeking the spotlight.
The kind of quiet leadership that doesn’t show up in headlines.
This week, that work was recognized.
Jake was named to the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) All-Freshman Team. The 5 best freshmen out of a class of 71.
8.7 points.
8.0 rebounds.
1.3 blocks.
28 minutes per game
Strong numbers — but they’re not the real story.
The real story is staying ready.
Defending hard.
Rebounding relentlessly.
Bringing water to starters — because you can.
Leadership is often invisible before it’s validated.
Recognition isn’t the goal.
But when it comes, it reflects the consistency behind it.
Quiet strength compounds.
Proud of the accomplishment.
Even more proud of the leader he’s becoming.
