"May is a bridge between winter and summer." - Terri Guillemets WOAH. That was fast! I mean, I knew it would be, but it still caught me off guard a bit. Jake got home, so that's added chasos. End of school? OF COURSE, that is full of chaos. Travel for work in the middle of all of it? SURE! WHY NOT! LOL. There was embroidery, and crafts, and chores, and meals, and the dog, and, and, and... But we survived! May was fun, and busy, and full of memories, and "lasts." This season is especially poignant as we do LOTS of lasts for both of the boys. I still don't feel like a grown-up, and here I am with 3 adult children. HOW?!?
But the time is sweet, the memories are meaningful, and time just keeps marching on. I started this blog with a ton of different goals and expectations. I think that they have morphed and changed 100 times over the years. Right now, I just want to soak it all in.
Opening Weekend: May 1 - 3
I chaperoned the 7th- and 8th-grade choir trip to Frontier City with Finn, we unpacked Jake, and BOOK CLUB!
only Finn can spend 3.5 hours in the park and then get hurt on the bus
To pack - he threw everything in the back of his truck
To unpack, he threw everything in my garage.
There was a lot of "keep or delete" happening, and 7 loads of laundry.
It was a Mother's Day Garden Party Theme!
MY BOYS:
And JACK!
Week 1: May 4 - 9:
Field trips and Drs appts - must be May! Finn had 2 field trips with his Yearbook class this week - One to Old Navy for an experiential adventure where they got to learn about the store, shop for a job interview outfit, and interact with staff. They had mock interviews in class on Thursday. And then at the end of the week, they went to Main Event to have an end-of-year celebration - all in preparation for Book Distribution Day next week!
Parker and Emma got a new toy...
Cinco de Mayo MARGS!
Jake had a consultation for his wisdom tooth removal surgery
Jack weirdly slept in my lap all afternoon
Finn at Old Navy!
One of the last middle school/movie theater pick up for me and Jack to get Mr. Finn!
Week 2: May 10-16:
Mother's Day, Choir Concert, 24th birthdays, and a trip to New England!
I was spoiled by my men, had a beautiful morning at church, came home, and Fiin put my little table together, and Lara came to town and met us for lunch!
(there was choreography!)
Ms. Brown is about 4'11'. That is all. We loved having her as Finn's teacher this year!
Finished a project; Thunder playoff basketball!
The trip was A LOPT crammedi n to 2 days and my travel woes were real. Shou out to Jake for picking me up in the wee small horus of the morning beefore his first day of work, and for all the stitching i got done!
So many airports and airplanes = STITCHING time!
But I had a WONDERFUL homecoming, and I know Jack missed me but was well taken care of!
AND while I was in New Haven, Connecticut, my girls celebrated their 24th birthday!
Twenty four.
How is that even possible?
I still see little girls with messy hair, cluttered rooms, and big personalities taking up every inch of space in our house — and now somehow you are two incredible women standing on the edge of enormous new chapters.
You have always been night and day.
Different in almost every way imaginable. Different energy. Different dreams. Different ways of loving people and moving through the world. And yet somehow… the exact same kind of fierce.
You both go big. You both love hard. You both refuse to live small lives.
You just do it in your own completely opposite ways.
One of you is planning a wedding and building a future with the person you love. The other is about to pack up her life and move 300 miles from the only home she’s ever known to build something brand new for herself. And honestly? Watching both of you step boldly into these next seasons makes me ridiculously proud.
There is something really beautiful about seeing your children become fully themselves. Not copies of each other. Not copies of anyone else. Just Emma and Lara. Strong. Independent. Brave. Loving. Determined. Entirely your own people.
What a privilege it has been to watch you grow up.
And what a joy it still is.

Happy 24th birthday to my girls.
Go chase the big things. The beautiful things. The scary things.
Your wings are ready. Always have been.

I had made sure to mail out their gifts before I left town!
They got a wooden disk with the state of Oklahoma and some flowers embroidered on it by hand from Dad and me. Emma has a big year coming up, and so does Lara. I just wanted them to remember their Oklahoma roots. I wrote on the back of each of these a special note for each of them, hoping that this birthday will always be memorable.
I also got to have a new experience for me with some book club girls and their friends! We went to Flix Bewhouse to watch Devil Wears Prada 2. It was super fun!
LAST DAY OF MIDDLE SCHOOL! And Jake got his wisdom teeth out.
